Linking your Train Engineer Transmitter to the Receiver
This sheet will teach you how to program your ART-5470 Remote Control Train Engineer System for successful control of your trains. This is achieved by “linking” your hand-held transmitter / throttle to the receiver.
With the Train Engineer system, you can control two separate tracks on your layout from one transmitter! Please read further down for more information about how to do this.
HOW TO LINK
First, on your transmitter, select track #1 or #2 position. Then, simultaneously press the A & B buttons. A flashing light will appear on the transmitter. Continue holding for 5 seconds. Then, release the A & B pads.
WITHIN 10 SECONDS.....
Simultaneously press the FAST pad on the Transmitter (* please see Notes) and the CODE SET button on the Receiver, until the green flashing light appears on the Receiver. Continue holding for another 5 seconds. You are now linked. You may release both key/buttons and begin operation of your trains.
******NOTES******
1. Any of the function pads on the Transmitter may be used to link the Transmitter to the Receiver, ie:
A. Track #1, Fast and Code Set.
B. Track #1, Slow and Code Set.
C. Track #1, FWD and Code Set and so, on and so on all the way up to the E button. This also applies to programming the Train Engineer in the track #2 position.
2. If your train requires more than 3 amps, it is highly recommended that you purchase a 12V cooling fan to attach to the receiver. You can purchase one from us (ask for ART-5499), your local hobby retailer, or your local electronics store.
3. For multi-user operations on modular layouts, ARISTO-CRAFT has additional frequency crystals (ART-5491) available. Crystal installation should only be done by qualified experts or can be installed for an additional charge at our facility.
4. CAUTION! It is imperative to install both the Positive (Red) wire, and the Negative (Black) wire to the Positive and Negative Connectors on your Power pack. Failure to do so will result in a blown Fuse.
SETTING THE MOMENTUM
To set the momentum speed of your train during start-up and slow down, press one of the A-E buttons and the receiver code set button simultaneously until the light on the receiver begins flashing. Continue to hold down on the buttons for 5 more seconds. Then, release both buttons. Your momentum should be set.
The ‘A" key is the quickest start of momentum and the "E" is the slowest. The factory setting is the "C" key, which is the middle range of momentum speed.
LINKING A SECOND RECEIVER
To control two tracks simultaneously from one transmitter, add a second ART-5471 receiver to your second track.
To link this second receiver, simply move the track selection switch on the Transmitter to the Track 2 position. Repeat the linking procedure you used for the first receiver.
Moving this switch allows you to control one train, while the other train will continue to operate. To control your 2nd train, just move the switch the other track.
Please note that the second receiver must be attached to a totally separate track without any connection to the first unless an insulating rail joiner is used.
*******SPECIAL NOTE****** If you are linking more than one receiver, please turn off all other receivers in the area. Pressing the A&B buttons while other receivers are on will cause those units to lose the programming which were just set.
By adding multiple receivers and transmitters, its possible to control up to twenty trains at one time! You can even change the crystals in your transmitter and receiver to make that number grow even further!
The possibilities are endless with the Aristo-Craft Train Engineer!
