OPENING UP THE LIL' CRITTER DIESEL SWITCHER
To disassemble the Lil' Critter Diesel Switcher to gain access inside the cab, there are nine steps you need to take:
1. Detach the railings from around the engine.
(There's no functional purpose towards opening the engine. It just makes working with the
engine easier). Don't bother with removing the stanchions though.
2. Turn the engine upside down.
3. There are nine screws that need to be unscrewed:
- two in the middle underneath the front side of the engine
- two in the middle underneath the rear side of the engine
- two screws on the left side between the skirt and the sideframe
- two screws on the right side between the skirt and the sideframe
- one screw that sits parallel to the two middle screws in the rear of the engine.
NOTE! You should not have to unscrew the 4 screws in the
four corners of the engine. Nor should you need to unscrew the four screws (two on
each side) that hold the skirt(s) to the chassis.
4. Once you have those screws removed, you should be able to detatch the cab, long hood,
and short hood (You can also pull the battery boxes away to make your life easier.)
4. Pull the cab and hood away from the chassis just enough so that you don't disturb the
wiring.
5. Turn the cab over. Inside, you will see a platform with two screws in it. You should be
able to pull the platform out. Once removed, you will have access to the cab.
6. To put the engine back together, repeat the steps backwards.
