Prototype Information:
The Evans 53' Double Door Boxcar was produced during the late 1960's and
1970's to handle semi-perishable products including packaged foods and paper
products. The insulated boxcar came with four plug doors (two on each
side) to seal out the outside weather. The double doors allowed for easier
and faster loading and unloading of the boxcar. This boxcar is still seen
today operating for many railroads, private shippers, and equipment leasing
companies. |
