Fan housings for SD-45
Model Information:
Do you want BIG locomotives for your G-Gauge railroad?  Do you desire the large locomotives of big-time railroading for your outdoor model railroad empire?  Then Aristo-Craft has the locomotive for you!  Our finely crafted SD-45 is based on the 3600 horse power locomotive built by EMD between 1966 and 1971.  Our superbly detailed model includes working directional headlights, detailed and lit cab, smoke, metal grad irons, handrails and lift rings. The Aristo-Craft SD-45 will be over two feet in length.  It will ride on a pair of our new three axle dual motor ball bearing equipped power trucks. The prototype used for Aristo-Craft's SD-45 was found in the Norfolk Western Railroad Museum in Roanoke Virginia.  Our SD-45 is sure to be a fine addition to any G-gauge layout.

Prototype Information:
In 1966 Electo-Motive Division of GM (EMD) introduced the 3600 horsepower SD-45 for the domestic locomotive market.  With its distinctive flared radiators, the SD-45 captured a large share of new locomotive production during the late 1960's.  Purchased by many class one railroads in the United States, the popularity of the SD-45 faded in the early 1970's due to rising fuel prices and higher maintenance costs when compared to EMD's 3000 horsepower SD-40.  During the 1980's and 90's the SD-45's found new life on regional railroads across North America.  The SD-45's where also rebuilt and equipped with new engines (prime movers) during this period.  SD-45's can still be found today on many railroads across the United States and Canada.
