PROTOTYPE INFO
The Aristo-Craft Delton Classics Coal Hopper is based upon a freight railcar of the late 1850's/1860's era originally used by the Quincy & Torch Lake Railroad in Michigan. Actual prototypes examples of this type car are no longer in daily use by any North American Railroads since wooden railcars have not been allowed in interchange service for many years. Restored examples of a similar type coal hopper are on display (1995) at the Pennsylvania State Railroad Museum in Strasburg, PA
