Aristo-Craft’s Wood-Style Gondola Car is based upon a freight railcar of the late 1890’s to early 1900’s era originally used by the Colorado & Southern Railway (and other Narrow Gauge rail lines) in Colorado, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania. Gondolas, also known as ore cars, carried a variety of minerals and other materials, including coal, coke, and ballast. Wood-style gondolas would later be replaced by steel gondolas which were much more durable and cost-effective for long-term operations.
