Aristo-Craft Trains continues to lead the market place with innovation. Our product development group continues the revolution we began more than a decade ago. We’re proud of the products we’ve brought to market and excited about the new products that are in production. We believe in our ability to revolutionize the industry. So much so that we’re patenting some of our innovations!

You will soon see the results. We have spent two years developing a new gearbox that will change forever what you expect in terms of performance and reliability. Our development team has tested and proven a power block system of gears that drives each axle in either 2, 3, 4 or 5 axle locos. These gearboxes work at 40% less current and with a minimum of 100% more power. Aristo-Craft will deliver more power, more reliably, from less amperage in a modular drive system with maximum production flexibility and price/value ratio that will be unsurpassed in the hobby.

While we were developing this gearbox, we held back on new locos until this system had its patent pending number and was tested fully. Our tests showed that these gearboxes are great performers. They are durable workhorses with ball bearing support a new series of heavier locomotives. These stainless steel devices are the closest thing we can get to perpetual motion.

This new system is built on our experience and success with our widely acclaimed FA-1/RS-3 and U-25B gearbox. These industry standard units are themselves marvels of efficiency with six ball bearings each. People who run operating commercial displays tell us that they will not run anything else, as we are the only ones that can provide “long life” operation. Installers of R/C on board also tell us that they will not run anything else as we use less current and have less EMI (electronic motor interference) noise. None of these benefits were accidental discoveries.  Our in-house engineers pay attention to these things. We have talked before about efficient motors that take into account the wheel size, the gear ratio, the motor size and the motor winding.  Our director of engineering, Mr. B.M. Song has used his vast experience to designed simply the very best drive systems.

The newer gearboxes will show up first on our SD-45. Shortly thereafter they’ll appear again in a powered tender, a Mikado (with flywheel drive) and several other new engines and products to be unveiled in Chicago at the National Hobby Show in October.

Drive systems do matter, though most magazine review writers are not technical people and usually underplay the role of the power plant in the loco. We will give them the features and let them test drive the locos as a major part of any reviews they do. After all……it’s a revolution and the gearbox is as noteworthy as the product it powers.

Aristo-Craft began a revolution in the hobby in the late 80’s. Our battles to establish competition and affordability took a tremendous amount of resource. These Year 2000 innovations are the beginnings of a major resurgence in new product. They are a continuing sign of our leadership.

Look for a host of new introductions this year. The Snow Plow and the CenterCab diesel have been delivered. The soon to be released smooth side passenger car is a classic in the making. We’ve executed it in full-scale length. Remember that each passenger style loco requires several passenger cars. Who else offers a full line of passenger equipment? Aristo-Craft is the leader in passenger car production.

Our production planning shows the RDC as the next introduction. These Rail Diesel Cars (RDC’s) promise to be one of the hottest item we’ve made. The range of offered road names is both authentic and colorful.

Our new Mikado steam engine will out pull most of the steam loco's on the market and is at least double the pulling power of any steam loco we have ever done while using 40% less current. Every axle is powered and the use of flywheels offers smoother operation.

The SD-45, with its patent pending gearbox is our signature piece. This new mold set will be as detailed as a brass custom loco, yet still be affordable. The SD-45 is the item that will first showcase the new “long life” drive system.

The Doodlebug is coming too. It's a self-powered car based on our museum quality standard heavy weight passenger combine.

To round things off we are hard at work on delivering the very first modern freight car in Large Scale with the new 53’ Evans Box Car. This car will feature an all-new modern freight truck. It is the first one to have no roof walk, as is the style of new cars.

We’re so "hyped" up ourselves that it's hard to bear the anticipation. We've re-engineered the company to have the best drive systems; the best mold work, innovative design and more new product than anyone. Not only that.....we wanted the best of quality, performance, durability and selection of road names bar none.

We have been in Large Scale since the early 70’s as a sales rep and in Large Scale manufacturing since 1985 with track and buildings. All of our hard earned experience is going into the next 12 months of new product design.

New products are flowing from the factory. The Snow Plow, Center Cab and the Rail Bus are delivered. We're moving right along. Stay with us, the best is yet to come!
